Thumbs up Austin is a pretty nice area.....

Took my SS down to Austin with the wife to celebrate our ten year anniversary. Stayed downtown one night and stayed at a resort at Lake Travis. Very nice down there guys! Saw a few F bodies, but mostly PT Cruisers.

Yep... I wouldn't live anywhere else in Texas. It's the only place in this state that I can tolerate. If I ever move out of Austin, I'm going out of state... maybe out of the country.

How are the people down there? Good attitudes? Whenever I get my car back together, I was thinking about taking a road trip down there for a few downs just to get out of the DFW area.

Ya, how are the people down there? Are the curtious, drive like idiots, etc.? I'm looking at possibly moving to that area.

Yeah, the people are great...... it is still in Texas afterall.

It's a large city but the people are very "small town" in most ways. They still smile or wave, hold the door open for you, let you over in rush hour traffic, etc. Never have to worry about someone starting any trouble or anything. The crime rate is very low for a city this size. Plus it's very beautiful outdoors here and lots of people are always jogging and biking..... makes for some good "scenery" at times

I just like Austin because it's still got some character to it. There are lots of "mom and pop" type stores and the city hasn't been completey overrun with corporate chains quite yet. It's also still very green due to ordinances about cutting trees down, so it doesn't have that "concrete jungle" feel to it at all.

The only part that I don't like is North Austin... which most of us refer to as South Dallas. It's got that "Suburban America" feel to it.... nothing but shopping centers and cul-de-sacs....... bland, faceless and generic.

Check out this website for some good info on Austin: http://www.austintexas.org

Also, if you'd like to compare Austin to any other city in the U.S. (cost of living, crime, population statistics, etc.), check out this site: http://www.bestplaces.net/html/citycompare.asp

I'm surprised you didn't see wannabe while you were in Austin. He drives a pyscadelic VW "hippy van." You can't miss it.

Don't let his love of Austin fool you.... Deep down he actually prefers Houston.

Damn Gord... what are you doing in the Texas section hijacking my posts?

Isn't there some Canadian section or something?
