ws6/ss exhaust opinion

i am considering ordering the ws6/ss take-off exhaust from the hawks third-gen parts website for my '96 firebird...i was just wondering what anyone who's gotten it thinks of it...i've heard a lot of the V6 performance exhausts get raspy at high rpm's, and i was just wondering if the ws6/ss take-off exhaust does the same...also, is there anywhere to get it cheaper than the hawks third gen website? thanks.

mine does get a bit raspy at high rpm's....but it was a hell of a value...3" mandrel bent pipes, i mean i could have spent a lot more for a good catback from borla or BB....i'm happy with mine....mine has mellowed out after the last week....i think i may end up replacing the stock muffler that's on there with something that may tune deeper....but i'm happy with it for now....sound reminds me of a beefy grand am gt....or grand prix....behind the car, it sounds nice and throaty....when drivin with the windows down is when it sounds GA/GP ish....

My take off gets raspy reving in neutral at about 3500 rpms and with a load on the engine a little higher, So if you have a automatic it may be raspy a lot, but if you have a manual and you dont shift at 4000 rpms all day everyday all the time every time, i wouldn't worry too much. Plus my freinds tell me that under acceleration to higher rpms it doesn't sound ricey.

I heard one V6 with the take-off SS rear section or catback I don't know, and it sounded pretty bad. I still have yet to hear anything better then Dynomax Super Turbo on a 3.8.

put a post up in the for classifieds.....most of the v8 will give you a decent price on them(or at least better than 3rg gen). I have heard several people getting them and its not a bad muffler for the money

Thumbs up

Had a SS take-off catback on my '95 3.4 and I think it was great.Sounded good, really mellow and added a lot of lost power in the 20-40mph range where the 3.4 lacks it the most.I would definately go that route again if I had another V6.
