Why get a lid?
fasttoys makes the fasttoys unit
IMO...
if you look at the fasttoys unit, the front of the unit (where the air enters the unit) larger, about 3", and then it goes down to about 2" where it enters the air filter area. this is a convergent duct. at the front of the unit you'll get a high pressure, with low velocity, and where it enters the filter you'll get a low pressure, with high velocity. high pressure always goes to low pressure, regardless. so this setup is quite effective.
the slp unit is the same size (about 2") from where the air enters the unit, to where it enters the filer area. so all this is getting you is a cold air charge, with a mild ram air effect when you're moving forward.
so the fasttoys unit is more effective than the slp unit.

it's like the venturi on a carb. high pressure, low velocity at the intake to the carb, then it narrows to get you low pressure & high velocity. fuel is at a higher pressure, so the low pressure air sucks the fuel up from the bowl. know what i mean?

I'm an enginering student so i understand all the physics, still i might go with the slp just because it's $45 cheaper, i will think about it though. I was reading about the fast toys and it was decribing how you shouldn't drive in the rain with out the block on and how the engine runs hotter, i haven't seen anything like that about the slp, but i haven'tread too much about it.
Got the car out on the highway today, it runs great, the reduced negitive pressure got rid of most the rash from the flowmaster, it almost sounds like an 8 when opened up. shot my mileage in the butt though with about 5 full throttle starts, still got about 22 though,
