Best Exhaust setup?
Similar to my other post, I am wondering what the best exhaust setup is. . .I have seen all sorts of types discussed on the board, so I really have no idea!
An incomplete list:
Flowmaster
Dynomax
Tri-flo
Borla
SLP
Loudmouth
(others?)
Also, as far as power gains, is a cat-back totally necessary? It seems like that would be the most power-gaining potential. . .
Take it easy,
Ed

I've got the 80 series Flowmaster on my car with a QTEC cutout. The exhaust note is nice at low RPM, and kinda raspy at high rev's. That's the case with just about any exhaust setup you're going to get for the V-6. The downfall of owning a six. Personally if I had it to do all over again, I'd get a Loudmouth setup. I haven't heard one on a six, but I've heard from people that have it that it sounds pretty good. The Flowmaster seems to be the most popular choice....price wise. I guess it just depends on how much you want to spend. Catbacks are nice, they add just a little deeper sound and being a little less restrictive, gives you a slight increase on the top end. An entire exhaust setup from headers all the way back.....I'd think that's the way to go, and is what I'm currently doing now. Pacesetter headers...highflow cat...and hopefully a loudmouth with center mount tips. Just a matter of $$$ flow, if you know what I mean.

On a 6 cyl, your gonna need a muffler that is sum what restrictive, cause you cant have a V8 rumble through out the RPM range, and still have it be real powerfully loud. Something has to make up for the 2 cyls to get an 8 sound, and wide open flow doesnt do it. In my personal opinion, 90% of the cat backs for v6s sound like a v6 with an exhaust.
