Where is a good place to put a cut-out?

Where would be a good place to install a cut-out on my 01 Camaro 3.8L?

If your going to reply "cut-outs don't sound good on V6 models" don't bother to even say it. I won't find out untill I try it right? And if I don't like it then I'll just go back to stock, simple as that.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

man, SEARCH... we've told u 100million times....

there are 2 main places.. around the cat (either before or after) or just before the muffler...

personally, i'd say after the cat, best place to reach and get it...

(although it will sound like poo, but, w/e, ur car, ur choice)

oh yeah, and another thing, if u have a 3" exhaust, u really wont see much, if any of a gain, other than the loud obnoxious noise....

Cut-outs sound like an ***. Even an import guy who WANTS his car to sound like *** will say "Damn, that sounds like ***".

Okay, enough fun.

Seriously, don't go with a 3" exhaust as Ian said. You will lose too much backpressure and you simply do not have the mods to warrant such a large I-pipe. You aren't spraying and you aren't blown so stick with 2.5" or 2.75".

I have a strange feeling that there will be a new topic about backpressure.

Re: Where is a good place to put a cut-out?

Thanks for the info but like what I said. If your going to tell me that it does not sound good on a V6 then don't say it at all.

I'm going to stick with the pipes I have now. Well basically I probably going to get an electric cut-out cause I just think it'll be cool.

I know someone is going to say "put you money into different mods" I have extra money and I'll do what I want with it

As for where I'm going to place the cut-out. I might place it right before the muffler. What would give the better sound, placing it before or after the cat or before the muffler?

you know what, if you don't want our opinions, don't post such stupid things... you have been told numerous times to search (by me alone, let alone other ppl), and its getting really annoying seeing your questions, which are warrented, everyone must learn... but, LEARN BY DOING A SEARCH 1ST!!!!!!!!

Re: Where is a good place to put a cut-out?

i love it when ppl call me stupid, no, really, i do.. here i am, a graduate student, with a degree from canada's no.1 economics school, no.21 or so in the world, but i'm 'dumb' or 'stupid' becuase i make fun of you and your evident stupidity and more importanat your laazyness.

if i really wanted to waste my time on you, i could easily search on here, or camarov6.com and find a dozen to two hundred pages of stuff on EVERYTHING you've asked, everything

i'm more than happy to help people who are willing to help themselves, you are evidently one of those people, and, thus, don't deserve the help of others

We all have to learn. If we all searched all the time this place would turn into a booring Library!

I say put the cut out right where the exhaust maked the 90* turn into the muffiler after it comes over the axle.

As far as 3" piping is concerned, I have 3" on mine and didnt notice a loss, if anything it felt like a gain. I still have the factory headers & S pipe so I consider that my restriction

Re: Where is a good place to put a cut-out?

i would try to put the cut out before the cat. personally, i don't like the sound of anything that is running a cat and no muffler. muffler with no cat sounds fine but not the other way. so, just dump it before the cat and make ALL kinds of noise! i'm running a 3" "catback" on my 3.1 camaro and wouldn't consider going smaller. of course, my motor is far from stock, also. but still, no supercharger, turbo or nitrous.
