weird feeling at higher rpms
weird feeling at higher rpms
i cant really explain it, but im sure somebody knows what it is.. At higher rpms, 4 + ish, my car seems to like loss and gain power, or like...change the way it is excelerating. Its not a sputter or a cut out..donst feel or sound that way...its just a funny feeling? Anybody know what it is. I recently put new plugs and wirez, but who knows with our misfire prob...
I have the same problem...when I accelerate mine does the same thing...it might have to do with a rev limiter...I think? I was thinkin' it might be my 5sp T-56 trans bearings wearing. Not to sure....I know this doesn't answer your question...hopefully someone on here knows.
I think mine might be doing the same thing...
Mine hesitates under load around 3-4K RPMs, then is fine to redline. I liken it to a misfire or weak spark. Something's almost holding the car back from accelerating like it hits a wall or something then BOOM - takes off.
I think it might be the cat, coils/plugs/wires in my case, but Autotap shows NO misfires and no exhaust issues...
I'm basically stumped, but will let you know once I have all of that replaced.

Re: weird feeling at higher rpms
one thing to check is knock retard. Scan the car while acelerating and when you feel a power loss see if you are getting any knock retard. I went through a "surge" at about 4k RPM on a firends car (see my detionation post) and it was a combonation of the detionation and the knock retard that was causing it.
Other then that. Normal things like fuel pressure, filter etc could cause it as could a bad cat. a back pressure test is cheep and great at finding a restriction from a cloged cat

Re: weird feeling at higher rpms
changed the filter about 6 months ago...its a 95 so its hell to get it scanned...i dont know about the cat..it dosnt have a smell at an idle or anything so i dunno, i guess it could be the cat...i dunno
Re: weird feeling at higher rpms
In my case:
No knock.
No misfires.
No misfire HISTORY.
Fuel looks good.
Tranny looks good.
No codes...
Nothing. Driving me mad. I think it's the cat, too, personally.
