He was probably spinning the hell out of his tires then, dude.

BTW, where are you getting the pacesetter headers from? I keep hearing they are not out yet - might want to make sure whoever you are ordering for can actually get them, not just read on their parts thing that it's available?

You are very right about that , his tires were spinning because he had floored it completly from a stop. Oh , and when will those pacesetter headers be coming out?? Can you tell me where i can find(webpage) a moroso CAI kit for my 3.4L camaro??

Cool

Ok, not to flame on ya or anything Ryan, but I think you missed the whole procedure on "launching" your auto. I've kinda perfected the launch (.4 reaction time's EVERY time!!) What you do is put your left foot on the brake and press down very firmly. Put your right foot on the gas and press it down untill your tach hits around 2k - 2.5k rpm Just enough so that the rear of the car raises a little, but not enough to spin the tires. Then whenever the flag does down/lights turn green/ whatever you use to start the race, let off the brake and push the gas to half throttle and keep it there untill your car shifts to second. After that, go ahead and floor it. That's the technique I've used, and that I've taught others to use and everyone has gotten a .4 reaction time at the local track! Try it out and see what I mean.

You know what ...... You are very very true about that and that probly does work better than what I do. Ill start practicing on how to launch my car like you do and get better reaction times . thanks

Question

Ummm, you guys,a .5 reaction time is perfect.Anything less is red-lighting and you lose the race. Also on a 3.4 you need to just floor the gas off the line unless you are juicing. The car doesn't spin bad enough to warrant 1/2 throttle until 2nd gear unless your tires just totally suck. You can knock off .2 or .3 tenths by going full throttle off the line. Also, remove the floor mat when racing so that the gas pedal definately goes all the way to the floor.Later.

Red face

Well me and my friend have not been able to race yet because it has been wet around here but anyway today he told me that he has a 2002 cougar 35th annivsary edition auto . He claims it comes with 180 Hp and not 170 HP.Is this true ?? And when I race him will I be able to beat him ?? I just ordered Pacesetter headers , Borla Exhaust , Moroso CAI, 160 degree thermostat , and a new performance intake manifold . should I be able to take him with those mods ?? thanks

Wink

From my timeslips.Any reaction time less than .500 is considered a "loss" due to red-lighting.

hmmm...Id like to know who came up with that idea of less than .5 red lighting. I dont uderstand that though because if it takes you say .001 seconds to react to a light doesnt that say that you went after the light was on? Maybe im not looking at it right but oh well.
