I used to want to put a T70 turbo on my 3.8L v6, but I see the cost of an engine rebuild (~$3k - $4k) waay too much! With all that money I could buy a turbo or throw in an ls1.
I think I will get an ls1, it would be best bang for the buck.

With that said, what ls1 should I get? Where should I get it?
What Tranny should I get?
What rear end should I get?
Anything else I'm missing? I need ALOT of help!!

yea, was thinking of getting a donor car out of a junkyard
how much hp can a t56 hold? obviously its more than a v8 4l60e.
the only differences between a v6 and v8 4l60e are the bellhousings
and input shafts right?
I have 3.42s which I switched to 4.10s in a Zexel Torsen LSD 10 bolt.
t56 is a manual right? I think I want to switch to a manual too, so I can run
my 4.10s on the highway. less drivetrain loss out of a manual...

I guess I should worry about just getting an ls1 out of a 1998-2002 donor car, and not worry about the size of the engine.

Unless you have blown up your engine, you really don't need a rebuild unless you want to go way over 400HP.

If you have given up on the turbo, you should sell your car and buy a V8. I don't think the engine swap makes much sense when you can trade up without paying anymore.
