trouble code camshaft bank 1 sensor
trouble code camshaft bank 1 sensor
This probably isn't the place to ask but a "check engine soon" light came on my wifes 99 chevy venture van after she dropped me off at the dealership to pick up my 99 SS (had to replace the ignition cylinder and get two new keys). I took to auto zone and they read a camshaft bank 1 sensor trouble code. He cleared it and the check engine light hasn't come back on. Did he save me a bundle from the dealership or is this going to cost me a bundle by ignoring? I still have an app't for this Saturday but don't want to spend another $90 to have them say everything is OK. Any help is appreciated.
smell of gas after shutting off
Looking at some of the other trouble code threads I am wondering if this is also tied to a recent smell of gas fumes once we shut off van in the garage. We have had a slight smell of fuel in the garage after recently parking. The dealership checked but said they found nothing about 1 month ago. Could the fuel smell and trouble code go together?
reroute wires
ok, i know it isn't the same engine so i respect that none responded to my questions. here is the result. took the van to courtesy chevy by the airport for a 9am appoinment. they kept it till 4pm and still couldnt figure out the problem. they rerouted the plug wires ands said the manifold had been replaced....we bought new from another dealership and they got the vehicle from this place! So i told the service manager that didn't happen on my watch, one owner car always serviced by dealership. only thing they could think that caused the sensor problem was arching of wires. charged 1 hour of tech labor for a grand total of $109.00. love my SS but they don't know how to build vans...new consumer report said the uplander is at the bottom of the list and gm is going to stop building the minivan!
