tranny in manual 3.4 hops. need help

when i get on the gas in my camaro 3.4 my tranny hops up and down, i checked the mount according to the haynes manual by putting a pry bar between my crossmemeber and my tranny, i can raise my tranny about 2 inches, does this mean my tranny mount is broken? if so where do i go about buying a new one? thx

yes. you can get an SLP tranny mount from slpengineering.com (i think). i don't remember for sure but you might have to drill a new hole in the crossmember because the OEM hole doesn't align.

some people go for the poly mounts but i wouldn't do it unless you're ok with your car sounding and shaking like a tractor all the time.

i have a polyurethane trans mount and my car doesnt shake like a tractor... however it does viberate more... but its kinda nice..

drilling the hole in a crossmember isnt hard at all, just take the crossmember out of the car before you do it.

im pretty durn sure that you will have to drill the crossmember, and rig up a spacer (i used an extra nut i had) for it to work properly

it took me an hour or so to do mine, but it was a prothane mount not an energy suspension

might want to go with something a little more solid than an extra nut for the spacer.

for any of the poly bushings you might get you'll definitely have to drill a new hole. I'd use some kind of shim as the spacer (the poly mount is shorter than stock). washers and nuts aren't really a good idea. you can make them from a bunch of household things preferably made of steel. you only need to raise the tranny about 1/4 of an inch to get it back to the stock position with the poly bushing.
