Hi, i'm getting ready for my engine swap next month, and I just got my z28 gauges from a seller off here today. I put them in, but the speedo isn't working? Before I put them in, the speedo was all the way to 155, so I manually rolled it back to 0 carefully. It has tention on it, and not just moving freely. What could be wrong with it? The odometer only has 17k on it. The ASR light is also now on, that's the airbag light right? Why is that now on. My car is a 97, and the seller said that the cluster is out of a 98. What can I do?

 

Ok, I got the speedo to work. I took the needle off and stuck it back on at 0. I was driving it around, and noticed now that the temp gauge didn't seem to get any higher, and that the fuel gauge didn't move after I filled it up. So I took the needle of now and placed it on F, so hopefully now it'll work. I don't know what to do now with the temp gauge. Should I just wait for the engine to cool, and put in on 160? When I turn the car off, the Temp gauge goes up then to 210. Also, what about the ASR OFF light. Is there anyway to get rid of that? I mean I really don't care if my airbags don't go off. I'd rather them not go off then where I read that they could go off on there own, unless I pull the fuse if that light is on. Any help is greatly appriciated. Thank you.

Ok, got the Temp Gauge to work now. Cant tell if the Fuel Gauge is working yet or not. Guess I have to wait and see if the needle starts dropping. NOW, what about my airbag light? Does anyone out there know anything about the gauges, and why the airbag light is on? So are my airbags inoperable now?

 

most likely its just the light...

but hopefully you wont have to worry about having the airbags deployed
