Thinking of creating my own borla plate>>>

I have the borla cat back and have the smallest opening plate installed (hole about 1" big)

It's been on the car for 3 years, it's just too loud for me, I was thinking of taking the "closed off plate" and drilling some small holes in it so that side of the exhaust still emits exhaust and works yet quites the car down.

good or bad idea?

Yup, it works. I did that on my old LT-1 borla system.

How big of a hole did you drill?

I did 11/32 and I dont think it's enough, (might go bigger) but it was strainge last night- so quiet I kinda liked it for once.

Actually I ended up drilling several small holes in a cirle with one in the center. My thinking was to give a little extra airflow but not much sound. It worked great! Not quite as quiet as closed, not as loud as with the smallest hole.

Thanks Joe-

My hole is in the center, I'll probably drill another soon, IMO it sounds really good, I miss that deep gurgle sound it gave with the open plate at idel, but I like the smoother sound for now.

It's 3" piping, it flows tons better then the stock 2 1/4 setup to begin with.

I can't tell a performance difference.

I drilled 3 more holes around the origional one, 1/4" each and I think I found my tune, it sounds great! I've gotten lots of compliments from my friends, I wish I had tried this years ago!
