Is it worth the expense? Well, you will not notice any performance gains from it. However, you should change the thermostat every once in a while anyway, so why not put in the 160.

i got my 160* thermo a few weeks ago. My car runs considerably cooler and as we all know when its cooler less chance for detonation and better combustion. So overall i think mine runs a bit better now
your car is 7 years old now, if it hasn't been changed, it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and swap in a 180 or 160. and considering they're only like 4 bucks at the auto parts store, and a 20 min. install, y not
