Question swapin 3.4 for 3.8 question

i have a 3.4 and i wanna put in a 3800. i was just wondering.. will i need a new computer chip or what? besides new motor mounts. what will i need to make this work? i heard the 3800 will hook up to my 3400 trannys. so i only need to know what i need to make 3800 work in a 95 camaro.

Re: swapin 3.4 for 3.8 question

If you're going to do a swap that necessitates everything, why not A) swap to a V8 B) just buy a car with the 3800 in it.

Unless you get a wrecked v6 donor car real cheap it will be the same cost for a v8 or v6 other than the motor/tranny.

Re: swapin 3.4 for 3.8 question

I've seen some 95 Z28's with high miles in decent shape go for around 3k. So If you're lucky 2500, maybe 3k if you find the right buyer.

Re: swapin 3.4 for 3.8 question

Probably around the same. Maybe higher if you have T-Tops, advertise it as a fun summer car if you do. Maybe you could pull 3200 out, but I wouldn't see much more, but that's what I might would pay for one. You can check the Kelly blue book for a more accurate price.
