Question steering wheel radio controls

I'm just curious. Is there any way to add the steering wheel volume controls to a car that didn't come with that option. My wifes SS has it and I love it. I was just wondering if there's some sort of "aftermarket" kit out there somewhere. Probably not, but doesn't hurt to ask. Right???

BTW...still no luck finding the paper with the cam specs. Still looking though.

You might want to check with the guys in the Audio section.

You can get them for aftermarket stereo's, but I don't think you can add them as an OEM installation afterwards...

You could just buy a wheel from a wrecked 2002 that had the option and have a stereo shop do a custom install. It can be done, a guy here in a 95 Z just had it done.

would the airbags work??? I'm looking at a local wrecked car and it has the controls and all, but the airbag covers look totally different. Would a new 2001 airbag/wheel go onto a 95' car?

Yes they should. The cover just changed in outer design, that's all. The hookups should be the same.

sweet! My only thought is that I know some cars with them have the SRS airbags, and I see no logo on the airbag of my car.

(I got used to them in a 98' GTP and MAN they are nice!)

Yeah, they are SRS I believe. The firebirds have the SRS logo on them. I love the buttons as well, but I'm so used to reaching for the radio though. I don't even notice them anymore when I drive my girls Firebird. The reason I believe it should work is because I helped my friend put a 98 Firebird Steering wheel on his 93 TA. It matched up nicely. Anywho, good luck with your project!
