Starting to run bad

I have a 96 with 90,000 miles. The SES light is on. Autozone scanner was giving me a misfire in #6 cylinder. I replaced the plugs, wires, #6 coil and O2 sensor on right side closest to the motor. .The car fluxuates at idle when warmed up (had this problem before SES light). It is also beginning to miss while excelorating. I'm thinking I need new injectors??? I'm going to take it back to Autozone to have it scanned again tomarrow. If it is the injectors, does anyone know how much it cost to take the car in to have them cleaned? How does having them cleaned at a shop compare to new ones?

Thanks for all the help!

Distributor maybe? So since you are taking it back to AutoZone, I'm assuming your SES light is still on?

Well I know our cars don't have a actual distributor. What I meant was in the ignition coil or whatever that fancy "distributor" is called Opti-spark?

He said he had already changed out his coil.

No Opti in our cars either...try again.

LOL...don't get mad at me. I'm not the one spouting off incorrect information. If anything, I'm saving you the embarrasment of going in when your car needs repair and you say "I think its my distributor...or maybe my Opti".

Better yet...check the blinker fluid.

To the original poster, it's pretty easy to clean your injectors. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, a shop shouldn't charge you that much to clean them or just the one. I would just bite the bullet and take her in...probably save money than guessing what might be the problem. Good luck...

Talking

OMG Nate...

How do you call that giving you hell? The two ideas you said were both wrong and he simply corrected you. He didn't call you DUMB or STUPID, did he? If thats how you react to people correcting you when your wrong, you're going to put off a lot of people.

1) Distributorless system...no distributor.
2) He said he had already changed out his coil. No Opti in our cars either...try again.

See...nothing wrong with that. If there was a DUMB@SS after the try again, I would get mad. You're the one who said " Screw you, go to hell! "...

Silly silly people

BTW... to the guy w/ the probs, Its been a while since I've looked at my friends 3.8 but with a 3.4 this is easy as hell to do Hopefully you can see each of the injectors as they come out of the fuel rail... this will save you some hassel of actually pulling them to test.

Take a long screwdriver with a long handle. Then locate each injector and place the tip of the screwdriver on top of it *where it goes into the intake* and put your ear to end of the handle. You should hear a clicking sound showing that the injector is operating. You should hear a nice rhythm with the clicking... that should indictate that the injector is operating properly. Listen to each of the injectors and see if they all sound similar. It may help a lil.

Edit:: BTW, you do need to have the car running to do the test

I found a shop to clean the injectors for $40, but they can't take it till next week. Another shop I went to seemed to think injector cleaning would not solve the problem. I told him I had a misfire in #6 and replaced about everything except the injector. He didn't offer any sugestions.... He said he would check it out with the computer for $60 and put that towards the neccesary repairs. Sounds like a good deal BUT I'm sure the $60 will be wiped out with the first hour )which is ussually minimum) of labor. After that I either have to take is back or keep shelling out green backs till it's working.

BTW, I listened to the injectors and #6 sounds like the rest. Thanks again for the help, I'll keep everyone posted....
