hello,
I have a 97 3.8L RS and i am having a starting issue with it. when i turn the key it dings twice for the seatbelt and then nothing. when i try to start it nothing happens. i can hear the fuel pump kick on but thats it. it wont even turn over. it has good battery power and everything. The problem started a couple months back when the car would do the same thing but after about 3 or 4 tries it would turn on. i replaced the lock cylinder but that had no effect. I just did a full rebuild on the engine and transmission a month ago and i would really like to get some use out of the car. Thanks for the help!

 

Check to see if the cables or tight on the starter & battery
check to see if the starter or the starter relay has gone bad

 

does the security light stay on after key is in run position for more then 15 seconds? I would also check the neutral start switch and vats start enable relay.
