starting hesitation?

my girlfriends 3.8 1999 has a hestitation when the key is turned to start the car. It is trying to turn over but just seems to not get all the way for a couple of seconds what is the solution.

bad fuel filter or pump a possibility

Check the connections on the battery like killerjello said. Mine used to do that because the positive wire was loose from my amp install. It would start, but rough. One day it did not even turn on. Find out it was loose. Good luck!

Make sure you let the fuel pump fully prime before you crank the key, this can buy the problem in many cases.
