Starter Motor/ Alarm Help
Starter Motor/ Alarm Help
Hello everyone,
I own a '95 V6 3.4L automatic with 80k, and hoping that some of the more knowledgeable camaro owners could help me out.
Here's the back-story:
Recently my Camaro wouldn't start or even try to turn. All you could hear was a click in the engine. This occurred throughout an entire day without any change. I knew my battery was good, and since there were no electric problems or security light or anything, I knew my key and ignition were fine. I suspected that the starter motor had gone bust, and that suspicion was confirmed by the opinion of the AAA tow truck driver, and then the Chevy service center where I had the starter motor replaced. (I gave them the car saying it wouldn't start and they checked it out and said yeah, you need a new starter motor and a fuel system clean/fuel filter replacement.) The additional fuel system work was fine, since I had been meaning to have that done for a couple years now.
That's the back-story, so here's my current problem:
After having got the car back (about a week now), I've had two problems.
First, about 70% of the time I get into my car, I get the same click noise when I try to start it. I wait a few minutes and luckily it starts when I try it again and again after a few times.
Second (and I have no clue whether this is related to the first) is that after receiving my car back, the alarm/remote lock-unlock system (it's a Viper alarm system that the previous owner had installed) is completely unresponsive. My transmitter just gives me the 3-beep noise that indicates that the car is receiving no signal.
I guess my main questions are how would those repairs have messed up the alarm system and does anybody know some simple things I could check? Should I be concerned about the few times that my car hasn't started post-starter motor replacement? Should I take it back to the repair place? (I've already called them mentioning the alarm problems and the guy said the transmitter didn't work when he tried it which is bull****) I could determinedly pursue them to get **** straight but I don't know how far I'd get..
Basically, I'm just looking for more insight and/or suggestions for my situation.
Thanks so much to anybody that responds.

Re: Starter Motor/ Alarm Help
Yes, if you are experiencing some of the same symptoms, take it back to the repair place.
You should also mention the issues with your alarm. Don't get all upset and start accusing them of breaking things, just mention the problem, and ask them if it is a possibility that they might have caused it.
Shops will generally be much more friendly and responsive if you are nice and polite.
