Smoldered a wire on the manifold!!!

I just tuned my car up and without realising it, one of the new wires was touching my manifold and in barely two days worth of driving, it was melted into a black pudding purre of glue... I can't afford the $50 heat insulation at the moment so what I'm asking is how can I route the wires so I won't melt them again?

zip ties baby and lots of them just rought them away from anything that can get hot enought ot melt them and zip tie them to something that won't get hot enought to melt the wires. It may look ugly and ghetto but it gets the job done.

Re: Smoldered a wire on the manifold!!!

I got lucky and Autozone gave me some 8mm wires after I told them what happened... I got a supply too so if it happens again I can rap up and ride out... Hey on the passenger side of the engine bay there are many silver pipes below the manifolds, what are those? how hot do those get? I need to replace one wire because I melted it at a spot... Hey that wire is extra long, is there a way I can cut it and take the connector off and reconnect it?...
