Shift Kit??

i was looking into any cheap mods I could do right now before I went back to school

i found this and it is pretty cheap

B&M Shift Plus.....are they any good and how do they compare to an actual shift kit?? considering they are like 1/3 the price.

also are there any other mods any of you can think of to give me a little more ummfff that are under 100?

thanx for the help....

Re: Shift Kit??

i'd say the transgo shift kit but it is over $100. It cost me 110 for the transgo shift kit and then another 125 to get it installed. This is a true shift kit and not something that plugs into your computer. it can be set on 3 different stages depending on how hard you want the car to shift. i have mine set on stage 3 and i LOVE the pull i get from 1st the 2nd gear, my tires chirp. it really quickened up my shifts a lot.

ive always thought that would be neat to get my tires to chirp between 1st and 2nd

125 to get it installed??? jeesh I thought you could do it yourself, I may have some friends that could do it for me. the trans go has 3 different stages as well that you can choose from while driving.

i guess what im wondering is just how they compare, if anyone has felt both of them....as in how much of a difference there is

like is there 3 times the difference, you know?

also would you expect to get any lower of an ET wit these in?

Cool Re: Shift Kit??

the kit comes with a video but it's kinda complicated cause you gotta take out these springs and ballbearings and stuff like that and make sure you put it in the right places. I was thinking about doing it myself but i just didn't want to have something go wrong and screw my transmision over.

i'm not totally sure but the B&M shift plus hooks up to your computer and isn't a true shift kit. the actual transgo shift kit goes straight into your transmission, i guess you can say it's more mechanical than just a computerized thing...know what i mean?

you will get quicker times, just cause it's shifting a lot quicker and firmer. i still haven't gotten to test mine out at the track yet.

another fun thing about the shift between 1st and 2nd, in the rain or snow you'll f**kin be fishtailing a lot, so you gotta watch yourself. But again, mines set on stage 3

hope i helped out,
mike

Re: Shift Kit??

you won't be fishtailing like crazy but the back will move from side to side. I've always stayed in my lane when it has happened to me. I've only moved over maybe a foot or so, nothin more unless your really trying to make it fishtail but then your wheels will be slipping.

i've talked to a few people before i got mine installed and asked them what stage they had their's on and they all told me that if i'm going to get it installed to either get it to stage 3...nothin less than 2 because you are trying to achieve a quicker stronger shift and by setting it on stage 1 is really not that much.
but yeah, it shouldn't fishtail on stage 1, not sure about stage 2, maybe not as much. you only feel that jump between 1st and 2nd gear.

later

good luck!

Re: Shift Kit??

it thought that you could change it whenever you wanted or something like that, like there was a switch or something, i guess not though

alright well i think im ayget one of these.....i can seem to figure out which part number to get for my 2000 v6 so it will still shift automatically...any help?

also i was wondering if it was gonig to always shift hard....like u want it to be hard when your flooring it, but what about when your just cruising along not going over 3k rpms, will it still shift really hard?
