question about take-off shocks

i just got my take-off shocks from slp...my question is on two of them, they each have a black metal plate in the middle where i am assuming the springs sit...but, on one of them there is another black piece, i think plastic, that sits on top of the black metal plate thing. how come the other one doesn't have it? is it not supposed to or am i missing a part? thanks, hopefully my description makes enough sense.

When you take off your old ones it will all become crear.

but I am working from memory. The plate is where the spring sits for the front. The platic sits inside of the spring, and under the mountign plate.

Ross and I did my front shock and it took up 11.5 hours, but we were doing it for the first time.
