putting mobile 1 in a V6 worth it?
putting mobile 1 in a V6 worth it?
I am like 400 miles over due, normaly I just use Penzoil cuz it is cheepest.
Will I notice anything?
Also, cuz we are running into winter season should I switch grades? Last winter I did and dont know if I did anything worth while.

400 miles over won't hurt anything. I used to push regular dino oil to 4000 miles (I did 90% highway though). It all depends on your driving though (short or long trips, excessive idle/traffic, etc).
I use Mobil 1 in my car. I don't mind the extra couple dollars up front because I run it way over 7000 miles. Oil analysis shows that it holds up well.
Don't know how cold it gets in Jersey...but you can use 5W-30 in the winter which would be easier to pump at the lower temps.

How do you know how many miles you can go, 5000, 7000? I normaly change around 3000 or so and with the van 5000 if I am fortunate to rember.

Oil analysis is the only way to tell if the oil is still holding up well. Don't know how many average drivers are willing to send in samples of their used oil and pay to have it analyzed though. I did it twice: Once at 5,000 miles on the first M1 change and then at 6500 on a different M1 change. Both times the #s looked good enough to be confident in doing the same interval again.
