What do you use

Well im just curious what grade/gas do you use on the maro. The reason why i want to know is becasue im not sure what to use. 87 is too cheap and isnt ver high in quality wise and plus i will never put 87 in my car so i just want to know what you guys use. Oh and race gas doesnt count because this is my daily driver. Sorry for the noob question but i just want the best for my car. Thanks in advance.

This was discussed not too long ago. We came to the conclusion that 87 is fine for the 3.8/3.4 89 shouldn't hurt it and 91 is a waste.

The number has ZERO to do with QUALITY!!!!!

Its strictly about how well it resists detonation.

You wont gain power, instead actually you might lose power from going to 91 is everything is "ok" with the car. Cause 91 octane fuel has a slower burn rate than 87, so it has less "bang".

NOW HOWEVER....if the car has detonation (pinging), then yes 91 is what u will need. But if our cars are detonating, and wanting 91 octane.....then something is wrong with the car.

If your worried about quality......don't go buying crap from the cheapy off-brand stations.

The 9.5:1 LG4 in my 85 IROC Z needed mid grade in the texas heat.
My 85 2.8 had that 195' thermostat and was a peace of junk any way it needed mid grade.
Over here in japan the cheapest lowest grade you can buy is 91.

you should be more worried about where you get your gas, not what grade of gas you get. there are different amounts of detergents in different companys' gasses. shell gas is tier 3 (the highest, cleanest burning pump gas available). i dont know about many other brands, but dont mix gas containing alcohol and gas that doesnt contain alcohol, because it will allow all of the water (condensation) in your tank to be ran through your motor, because alcohol mixes with water.

There's only two grades available in Finland: 95 and 98.
