Power Problem Is Back!!

OK my problem has reaccured. It seems that when I let off the gas and the RPM's are going down the lights dim and the battery needle fluctuates from normal to low to normal. It happens even at an idle while revving the gas a bit. I have a 2002 3800 v6 camaro with 20,900 on it. I've already had the alternator changed ( under warrenty) and am hoping it is just a loose ground or a short somewhere. Anyone else have this problem? I'm taking back to dealer and was wondering if they put it on the computer if they will be able to find a short or loose ground..thanks

Yeah, it sounds to me like just a wiring problem. There's a small chance that new alternator was defective out of the box.. i've seen that happen more than once. So you might want to get that retested anyway, and then the hunt wor wiring problems can begin.

Re: Power Problem Is Back!!

first random thought: never hope its a short or a loose ground... looking for a loose ground or tracking a short sucks ***

second random thought: look at your belt, check to see if it looks worn, its possible that the tensioner pulley isnt working and the belt isnt turning properly all the time and the alt isnt spinning fast enough to provide enough juice

third random thought: the second random thought isnt all that likely, but ive heard of it happening before

I also had a new belt put on when they replaced the alt the first time. I guess I'll know soon enough ...taking the car back to the dealer Monday..As for looking for a loose ground or short, some of my mechanically inclined friends already offered to help me look on a Sunday afternoon!! suckers !!!!!
