poping while turning?

do our cars have CV joints or something? cause now when I turn sharp left I hear a loud poping noise like the sound a CV axle makes when going bad.

what would that be?

the noise is freakin me out like something is going to snap and break...

what can I cehck to see if there is something wrong?

Ball joint probably. Same type of sound. You definitely want to take it in to someone to get it looked at if you have never messed with it. Another thing could be one of the swaybar components...

The car doesn't have CV joints, but I would check all of the steering and suspension components on the side of the car making the noise. Maybe try having someone crank the wheel while you listen for the sound.

whoops..I forgot to say that this is for my 97 V6

I cant get to the shop until Friday....its a loud poping and I can actually feel it in the car....its comes from the riht side and happens when I take a sharp left...and sometimes I can even feel it when I hit certain bumps.

Ok. That is probably either your swaybar bushings, endlink (part of the swaybar assembly) or your ball joint.. the first two things. pretty easy to fix yourself. the balljoint.. well thats a little more labor intensive lol. Now. if it is the first two. you can drive the car. it will just have the noise. if it is the ball joint.. and it fails. you WILL wreck your car... there is no maybe in that since the A-Arm.. (I am almost 100% positive thats where they are located been a while since i have had to replace one) but the whole thing will come apart. your tire will go strange. you will lose steering and possibly brakes. depending on what it does.... NOT a good thing if a ball joint fails... Also check to make sure ALL of the bolts holding the a-arms and such are all tight too. I know it is a newer car than a thirdgen or the like. But the stupid things still come loose.

Yea they should be in the same gerneral place... one on each side if i remember. You might want to get a haynes or chilton book for it though just to make absolutely positive.
