Depends how much it is going to cost. Is your cousin donating his time or the parts? It's not worth it unless you are getting a good deal on the parts and or labor.

I think I understand what you're saying.....taking the Camaro body completely off and installing it on the WS6 chassis? If that's the case.....I've never heard of anyone doing this. As for the swap from the WS6 to the Camaro...that's some pretty intense work. Wiring harness, ECU, X-member, suspension, fuel pump and lines, radiator, gauges, etc... Doing the work yourself with the help of your cousin would be the way to go. Just understand that if you have smog laws in your area, you may run into problems with the VIN# and passing the visual inspection. But, if that's not the case...........DO IT. ESPECIALLY if all the parts are FREE!!!

It's possible.

You really need to get your hands on a 1998 pcm and wiring harness though. The 2000 stuff will need a lot of wiring changes, where a 1998 will almost plug right in (you have to put 12v power to one additional pin). You should use a '98 gauge cluster too.

You could convert the car to a manual trans, with the addition of the clutch parts.... Since the donor car is right there, you could swap that stuff over easy enough.

Whatever transmission you go with, make sure the pcm matches it.

The tank and lines on your '98 are for a return-type fuel system. The v8 car is returnless. You can swap the tank and lines. Or you can buy a 97-98 vette fuel rail and fpr, and keep your tank and lines. The vette parts are about $210.

I'm working on a swap in a '98 myself...

Well, seeing as how you'll be doing a full out swap.....with the engine, tranny, and exhaust removed the lines shouldn't be that hard to change out and install LT1 or LS1 lines. I know that the V-8's have a return line, that's why you need them. As for the fuel tank....PIECE OF CAKE!!!!

You should probably upgrade the fuel pump too. Most people drop the tank to get to the fuel pump. So you might as well swap the tanks while you're there... I think the 2000 tank will work, and you'll have the added benefit of it being the lighter plastic tank. You could probably get by on the v8 fuel pump, but for $120 you can get a 255lph walbro for it.

You might need to keep your sending unit though, because the output voltage range changed sometime after '98, I think it was '99. (that is, if you go with a '98 cluster....)

Gets confusing after a while huh?!

I'm keeping my tank, and going with a walbro pump, and a '98 cluster, and the vette rail. (the high hp guys prefer the return-type system over the returnless system, fuel pressure is more stable on top end.) One of these days I'll probably be putting a blower on it, so I figure staying with a return-type system makes sense for me.
