A friend of mine has a 99 3.8 a4 bird. He said he's hearding a clanging noise, not a grinding noise, from around the torque converter area. Its happening in neutral, drive, and reverse. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be. He said its driving fine and doesnt feel like the tranny is going out. Not slipping or anything when he shifts.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Loose dust shield? loose a bolt or loose on the tourque convertor?
