Octane DOES make a difference!!!
Octane DOES make a difference!!!
No problems or anything but just stating... For the past few weeks I've been putting regular 87 Octane in my car, partially because it's the only thing I could afford, well here in GA gas FINALLY reached $2.00 so I decided screw it it's ALL going to kill me. I threw in some plus and filled it up. Here's my results on an AVERAGE basis.
Regular 87 Octane, NO Fuel Injector Cleaner = 250 - 300 miles
Regular 87 Octane, + SeaFoam Injector Cleaner = 290 - 340 miles
89 Octane, NO Fuel Injector Cleaner = 310 - 370 Miles
89 Octane, + SeaFoam Injector Cleaner = 320 - 390 Miles
All results were produced over the following conditions...
- Last Tune up - 1 month ago
- OilChange - 3,000 miles OVERDUE (don't worry I changed it now)
- 35% Highway miles 65% Street miles
- Little to no LeadFoot restriction
- Avg Road Speed - 45 MPH
- Avg Highway Speed - 70 MPH
- Traffic Conditions - Light: 35%, Average: 50%, Heavy: 20%
- A/C usage - None (it's broke!
)
I tried PREMIUM (93 Octane) gas aswell because I have a place where I can get it discounted at about the price of PLUS (89 Octane) gas... there wasn't enough variance between the two for me to post it though.

Dumb question but then why do V8's need 93 + octane if higher octane DECREASES performance? and does this mean the label thats says "0-60 Booster" on Octane booster's is B.S. ?...

also, unless you have too much carbon build-up in the motor, this "0-60 booster" is a load of crap. excess carbon build-up will slightly raise the compression ratio and may cause the computer to retard timing (and thus hurt performance) in order to prevent detonation due to the new compression ratio. if the motor runs correctly on whatever grade of gasoline is designed to run on, octane booster doesnt do anything...
