New here, have a question or two...
Hello all,
This past weekend I bought a 97 Base M5 Camaro, with the Y87 performance package. The car has 90,000 miles on the clock, and it seems to run pretty well. My question is, what should I do first to mod it? I was thinking cold air intake (SLP is pretty good, right?), and then possibly headers. However, I don't know if I want to change the stock exhaust. So would headers do me any good without opening up the rest of the system? I pretty happy with the sound of the exhaust, so I don't really think I need a catback system. Would you all suggest a tune up now, before it hits the 100,000 mile mark when Chevy recommends it? I appreciate all the help, I new to this whole scene. My previous car was a 1999 Toyota Rav4
, so I haven't really modded any cars.
Thanks again,
Frank

Personally I say spend the money you have on maintenance. change some fluids, plugs.wires.
an intake is a good start. headers are hard to do on 4th gens, but it will make doing plugs on your car ALOT easier so may be worth considering to do.
you could do a catback, a cheap, not too loud alternative is throwing on a stock v8 catback, has a wider catback, and if you look around people are selling them.
