95vert3.4

hey everyone, im a new camaro owner (since december). got what i thought was a good deal on a 3.4 vert top AUTO. thought all it needed was paint. thought wrong. upon checking the tranny fluid i realized that it was brownish in color and smelled burned. my dad who's a mechanic told me that the tranny's pretty much toast and on its way out. i considered selling the car along withthe headache but when i wondered what i would want to replace it, all i could think of was another camaro... i really love and want to keep this car.. i would like to eventually swap for the 5.7 but for now i just want to replace the tranny in the most affordable way possible.. anyone out there selling or know where to get a cheap (but good) rebuilt tranny?

Does it still work through all the gears? If it does go ahead and change out the filter and flush it with fresh tranny fluid. Yes it may be overdue for a fluid change, that doesn't mean it's completely toast. Of course if you don't have all gears thennnnnnnn
