no way! what are his rpms at 70 mph? it would be cool if i lived 5 minutes away from my job and grocery store, but since i live in a city that takes 30 minutes of driving to get from one end to the other 4.10s are nuts.

driving constant at 3100 rpms is deadly on the tranny. if my car was track only i would have 4.10s as well, but since i drive 60 miles to work and back, i had a hard time convincing myself to even get the 3.73s. i drive around 69 mph and i am at 2200 rpms at that

4.10's??? For all you guys wanting to dump tall gears into your STREET cars, be ready.

4.10's are great... for pulling/towing, and like 1fastV6 said, at the track! They're not a good street gear. My 3.42's suit me fine. After I get the supercharger on and finish hooking up the NOS, I'll probably end up keeping my 3.42's.

I like to keep the competition in front of me.... until the last 100 ft!!!!

99blackss,

u are right, 3.73 is usually the way to go in the A4 V8 cars, but on the v6 cars they seem to be really good. cant always believe what u are told. some people would have u believe that a hypertech is worth the $350 they sell for when actually, they arent very good. or, that a muffler actually adds the 10-15 HP they say.

My brothers Camaro is a 98 V6 A4 he has a speed limiter at the stock point, 118 mph. If I understand right your limiter is at 90 right now. Anyways I am confused but if you want the VIN# of a 98 V6 A4 I can get one.

the dude with the 410s has the same setup as your brother. he's asking anyone who's 98 V6 came with Z rated tires stock in which case the limiter wouldn't have been set at the factory.

the reason his limiter cuts in at 90 now is because his gears make his transmission rotate faster for each rotation of the tires than the stock gears (which is the whole point of of putting in taller gears). this screws up his speedometer so the computer thinks 90mph is actually 118mph.

get it?

<rant>this is why speed should be guaged from the front wheels. its done electronically anyway so there's no reason to tie the speedo into the tranny.</rant>
