My 3.1L V6 gets 11MPG!
Ok, so I picked up this 92 Firebird with the 3.1L V6.
First tank of gas it gets 13.5mpg. Well, the tires were under-inflated, and the oil, coolant, and trans fluid were all low.
So after fixing all that and changing the oil, second tank of gas gets 11mpg.
Well, a couple days ago I get an emmisions test notice and I get to thinking maybe an O2 sensor is busted or something. Haven't gotten it tested yet, but will probably do so this week.
Anybody else have any ideas about what else I could check?
TIA

The 3.1 is known to be a gas hog. Before one of my friends wrecked his 92 he got about 12 mph out of the 3.1. A guy i know with a 91' RS gets about 11 mpg on a good day. Actually my freinds 98' olds cutlass with the 3.1 gets a surprising 10-13 mpg.
be happy i have a 94 3.4 a4 and best mileage ive gotten has been 12 mpg... on average not beating on the car at all i get about 10 and when i do run her hard i get about 6.. ive had the engine rebuilt...and just about everything replaced under the hood. ive gone to 3 mechanics and no one can figure out while she guzzles so much gas... ive replaced o2 sensors EGR valve everything.... so like i said before be happy with what u got.
