I am really going to try to not drive my car this winter as much as I did last year. I just hated the amount that it got beat up with the salt and geting stuck and so on.

fortunately my dad is geting new tires around on the Astro so I am probibly going to plain on driving that more often this year. My mom uses the Astro on the weekends and I would use the camaro then if it isnt snowing.

anyway, I dont think it will be in a garage cuz my mom likes to keep hers in there cuz then it is warm for her in the morning so.....I have a cloth car cover but it isnt water proof at all so I was thinking of puting it on then geting clear plastic from work and puting that over the car cover so it wont get wet.

any opinions on this? Hopefuly I will be able to continue to keep the miles down (28,800 currently) and keep it looking nice and not have to fear sliding off the road.

 

I would really hate to see my car sitting in a driveway all winter long if it snows and all that.

Then again, it hardly snows here in TX and my car stays in the garage (also at the office), so don't have to worry about it too much.

Anyway... If you can not get your car in to the garage for the days you are not driving it, I'd definetely suggest renting a storage space for it. I don't know hoe much they are, but it can't be too much and saves you from a lot of trouble, I think...

If not, I'd suggest at least getting a really good waterproof cover for it and use good oil in the engine (Mobil 1 5W-50, for example) to keep it lubricating right from the start. Costs a bit more but is worth it.

And make sure all other fluids are in good shape for the winter, too.

Thats the thing, I CANT not drive it because it is too much fun

but, trying to keep traction some mornings is scary considering how easy it would loose traction + the fact that I really hate to see it dirty and covered in salt.

says it not meant for use outdoors but you can so it if the ground underneath wont cut it and you put a clotch cover over your car first so it dont scratch and also wiegh it down

 

Putting a _waterproof_ cover on your car is a really bad idea. Water will condense inside. If you're _lucky_, all you'll ruin is your paint.

You need a cover that breathes and lets water vapor out. There are a lot of web sites that discuss the advantages/disadvantages of various fabrics. If you want one to keep your car outside in winter where it snows it will need to be one of the more expensive ones. I use one made out of Noah fabric. It cost about $150, I think.

A "cheap" cover will cost you $$$.

 

Thats why I was thinking towards putting my fabric non water proof cover on and then the 6mil plastic (not a tarp cuz I know tarps let water through)

it will only be on for a few days at a time at most.

Also, my T tops and side windows leak so the interior would stay dry.

you put it in dry and it has stuff that absorbs all the moister that is reusable jsut get there broshure a friend used it after 3 months outdoors with it his rotors didnt have a any rust either! came out like it went in no difference

just put it in dry

buy a temporary garage for the winter they're $180 thats what im doing and thats what my friends dad did for his chevelle it worked great
