Changing tire sizes

Changing tire sizes

ok, i totally melted the factory tires off my rims. and i was looking at some 245/50/16s would i need to recalobrate the speedo if i did this because the factory tires were 235/55/16

Yes, I would or your speedo will be off.

Not much. The diameters are:

(245/25.4)X.50X2 +16 = 25.65 inches and

(235/25.4)X.55X2 + 16 = 26.2 inches

So the 245s will read about 2% faster, or about 1 mph faster at 60.

Hey, our cars depreciate fast enough without that extra odometer baggage.

you could also just get 255/50s. they're even closer than 245/50s. plus they're a little wider.
