Whats up, hey my friend has a 2002 Mis Eclipse, he bought a K&N Air filter and says it pumps out a clean 20 hp from just the filter. I know on my 2000 3.8 that it only adds like .005HP, but... is it different with other cars, can it actually pump out that much HP?!?

Nope.... hes full of it..
ask if he put the K&N stickers on his car.. cause those add a few horses each
depending on the car and engine size, the performance gains will vary... but no car will gain 20 hp off a drop in filter....

 

whatever, my K/N filter charger added a clean 12 hp and it just depends on engine size. Just got the maro dynoed, 215hp at the crank!!!

What else did you do to make 215 at the crank?

 

no hooker headers..only ones that i know that are for 3.4 are pacesetters and rksport...i think borla had them avliable for a short while.

 

no its not that much HP...HOWEVER

IMO its still worth it REGARDLESS of the HP...cause it'll make your car breath better...so thats the reason why i'd get it over HP...

Plus most mods thatare available to a V6 (esp 3.4) wont even add 20 hp......cept the n20 or bigger mods

 

crank doesnt mean crap...its all about at the WHEELS baby!

Divide that number by 4 and MAYBE thats what you saw...thats being pretty generous too. I doubt the filter adds more than one or two horses, if anything.

Show me a dyno before and after a K&N FILTER alone on a 3.4, 3.8 or even a 5.7 that shows a 12 HP gain and I'll ride around for a week with "HONDAS RULE" written on my back window.


EDIT: Rating at the crank sucks @$$, its all about what you can lay down.

 

i didnt even know dynos showed at the crank hp.

and when it comes to products saying they add so much hp, it is wise not to believe them.
