Angry Imports!

How is it that these little 4 bangers (1.7 2.0 2.2 liters) can produce so much more power than a 3.4l or even a 3.8l after thier all modded out? This pisses me off, especially when a car like a Honda CRX can run high 11's low 12's. Why can't we mod out are cars like that?

.....welll cause you see...

They blow up in flames when after they run in the 10's!!!!

We don't blow up!!!!

Our engines last 100-200K miles. Their blow up after running at 7500rpm.

Ours aren't running NAWZ! They are.

The reason they are faster is the power-to-weight ratio. They weigh 1000lbs lighter than us....plus they spend upwards of 5K for some of their CRAP!

They may pass us on the track.....but we get to drive home!

they have more money into them...

I mean on the CRX runing 12s? the car weighs slihtly over 2k, and peopel have gotten them under 2,000 lbs. your car weighs what a good 3400 lbs.?

Then the motor, what would a v6 run if the internals were forged and ran a good 10 psi of boost on the car with a good 75shot on top, and 1400 lbs. of weight reduction.

Hell a 1400 lbs. weight reduction into a stock v6 f-body that ran a 15.5, would get it to a low 14, with no mods, other then weight reduction.

I have seen a 10 second all motor civic plenty of times, he is towed to the track, runs 3 times blows up and gets towed home, same thing happens a few weeks later.

jsut seems like more of them because they are the popoular ones now. More interest, more aftermarket, reason why v6 f-body aftermarket has not exploded is becawsue generally peopel go to v8s.

The Fiero and beretta have a bigger aftermarket then most v6-f-bodies I have noticed.

Who cares if its a import or domestic...I can appreciate ANY fast car. My cousin's MR2 is a four-banger...but it also is TURBO. He's put in a lot of money into it and as such its fast. And don't get me started on my sister's Supra (financed by my Dad and modded by her boyfriend).

It shouldn't **** you off...they've probably spent thousands of dollars into their cars, have you?

The weight ratio plays a big factor and the newer cars power #s will continue to get higher and higher. I mean look at the new V6 Altimas, they're rated at what...220+? A lot of the import cars that run those times have either forced induction or nitrous. There are a couple that run all engine but the all of the guys in my import crew are blown and a handful have nitrous systems.

Take a close look at the cars that pump out those times...they aren't stock Hondas or lightly modded...they're pretty crazy.

Better technology is the main reason. The honda motors are runnig advanced variable valve timing. An oversimplified way to say it is that they basically have 2 cams, one for crusing and one for making power. Their engines are terribly efficent. Civic Si's maek 100hp per liter. The S2k makes 120 per liter! Your 3.4L OHV chevy motor is just a little outdated, thats all.

The 3.8s are a little better, but still I would consider them a step behind the Honda competition. The 3.0L V6 in the Accord makes 200hp and the power delivery is extremly smooth right up to the redline. For 2003 theyll have 240hp. The 3.2L Acrua Type S makes 260hp!

Add that with the fact that HP is made with RPMS, and the honda motors rev upwards of 8k on average. Then factor in the weight. It all adds up to a faster car.

Here's something to think about.... driveability! Those Hondas may be fast, but they can't drive them on the street at all. They are set up to drag only. They also put drag springs on the car so they can't handle for crap. Have you seen the wheels when they drag? It is usually a combination of 17ins in the rear and 13ins with slicks in the front. Don't worry about those riceburners, real cars are rwd! I say this and sadly i currently have a 1990 honda CRX HF ... with NO mods!!!

I'm just pointing out how efficent their motor design is compared to a 3.4L camaro which also runs 15's and 16's... or should i say 16's and 17's on average?
