...that your EGR valve could be bad but not through the SES light?

 

Yes,my EGR went south and I never got a SES light.If the car idles rough but clears up with a little gas and higher RPM's then I say it's probably the EGR valve.Good luck.

I would also like to agree with this statement ..

Im having terrible issues with drivability... idle is horrible..and until 2200rpm or more it chokes the car... I tested my EGR valve and it appears to be stuck open. Im pulling it tomorrow to figure out for sure. This may end a long saga for me! Which included tearing apart my Optispark!

 

How do you go about checking the egr valve? How do you know if cleaning is all it needs or if it is bad?
