How much is a 2002 Y87 V6 Camaro worth?

I drove an 04 Grand Prix the other day and it stole my heart. I am looking at selling the Camaro and getting one. My Camaro is a Rally Red 2002 V6 with the Y87 and Sport Appearence package. It only has 5000 miles on it. The same dealer I was at the GP at was selling a non Y87/Sports Appearence package car with 8K miles for $18,999....yet they only offered me $13,000 for mine which is mint and at most needs a good detailing to be showroom ready. ?

Either way I owe $20,000+ on my car and the dealer said I would need $18-19K to make a deal happen at a reasonable payment.

How much would a car like mine go for trade, how about private party?

I see non-Y87/SA 2002 V6 Package Camaro's with the same milage as mine listed for $18-21K and the one Sports Appearence V6 I could find was listed for $22K.

Pics of my car in the sig.

Trade in value is always lower than private party resale. It is quite common for someone to owe more on their car than it's resale value is worth. Thats why longer loan periods (ie 60 month) are not a good deal.

Try this site out for resale value.

Are you getting the GTP?

I want a GTP, but I won't get anything being $10K upside down.

KBB seems all over the place with thier prices.

My wife has a '02 Y87 with 5500 miles. That car wasn't off the lot 10 seconds and it dropped at least 4k. You gotta keep it for a couple more years. The selling price relative to your note balance may be a little more attractive then- plus, there may be a little more interest as the cars become a little more scarce. You must have given them just a token downpayment to still owe 20k? Anyway, the smart thing to do is wait. I know you don't want to hear that. Good luck though.

Yeah...you're better off waiting. You'll be lucky to sell that car on your own...and if you do, you probably won't get more than $15,000 for it. Look around on autotrader.com and see what 02 V6's are going for. My guess is it's nowhere near your $20K payoff. The used car market sucks right now with all the 0% financing...that's part of the reason why they're only offering you $13K for yours too.

What's so great about a grand prix??, if you get anything else, get a trans am. faster, better looking, less seen, and cheaper.

They don't even make the Grand Prix in a coupe anymore- and forget about a manual trasmission. Other than that, they're great cars.
