Red face Help: think i broke camaro playing in snow..

well on Christmas morn we got about 6'' of fresh snow.. I went out and found a nice big empty un-plowed parking lot and had some fun for about 30 min. 180's 360's and going sideways. i could only get up to 25 mph because no traction. every time i spun it out i got stuck and had to dig snow out from the front of the rear wheels to get out.. so i drove home which was just about 1 mile reaching about 40 mph and feeling nothing.. but when i go to work this morning i get a fast bouncing up and down of the car which feels like it is coming from the rear.. i cant feel it till about 40mph and only got up to about 50mph today.. im going out to see what it is like from 60+ and i dont think its gonna be good... so could i have bent something??? thanks..

Sounds like ice/snow on the inside of the rim. Feels like a wheel weight has fallen off. Take it to a car wash and spray the wheels.

Let the rim and rotors cool down before you do this or you could end up warping them.

Hope that helps.

Yeah...sounds like a out of balance wheel..........or maybe a bad u-joint in the driveshaft.

But more than likely, its a wheel weight.

Hopefully its just a missing weight or some caked on ice. Last year i blew the rear seal, smoking the tires in 4th gear sliding down the hill the backwards, while attempting to get home up an icy hill.

It's funny you should post this, because the same exact thing happened to me this morning.

My car was stuck in a 6 foot snow bank for 2 days, and I finally got it out but the wheels were packed with snow and ice. I had to get to work so I drove it, and between 40 and 50 it was vibrating like a bi***. I was hoping I didn't screw up the transmission or differential because when the snow hit I was running in it reverse and drive at 4000 rpms+ trying to get unstuck for about an hour.

Well, when I got near work I stopped at a car wash and sprayed all the ice and snow out of the wheels, wheel wells, etc, then on a hunch I sprayed under the car and knocked a huge chunk of ice off the drive shaft.

So, between those two things I hope its fixed but I havent had a chance to take it up to 40/50 again to test it. I'd say that would be a good guess, though.

i also have a slight shake at 35. its acutally between 34-37 its not a big range so i dont know what it is. i hit a curb with the back tire in the rain a while back but i think it was doing this befor that. anyone know what to check for this? if it was my differential u would think i would feel it more that just the 3 or 4 mph wouldnt i? or if something was bent like a shock or somethin?

What a coiencidence i did that the same thing on christmas night and had the same problem. I figured it out though. I had sand on the inside of my rim and all i had to do was remove the sand and the jumping was gone. If that doesnt solve it you probably lost a wheel balancing wieght. It is only like 5-7 dollars to have you wheel balanced. Hope i could help.

yeah it was snow in the wheels.... thats what caused the bad vibration.... but i feel a very slight vibration at 70 up to 100, but only when i let off the gas and slow down. think ill go get all the wheels aligned..

don't mesh your car up in the snow, it's a $20,000 sports car not a toy or some hilbilly truck. you have to realize that.
