help with power
help with power
i need help with power with a 3.4 v6 how much power does it take to turn over 17in wheels and i already have Ram Air Hood, K&N Air Filter, Flowmaster Exhaust, 17 Inch Eagle Wheels what else can i do for power what kind of bigger cam can i use?
Ok lets start with the easy stuff. What size Tire are you running? what rear Ratio? What Tranny?
You say you want more power. You mention a few things that will help it breathe better, maybe add a horse or two, but look a little bit farther into what you have and give us some more details so that we can give you a better idea of what you can do.
Yes you could put in a bigger cam. Maybe different plugs, different plug wires, if you are running an automatic a different size Torque conv. Maybe some headers....What size pipe do you have?
We could go on and on. BUT you have to realize this is a V6 not a V8. you aren't going to put that 4.6 'stang in its place very often if at all.

and wondering with a stall converter at about 1200-1500 remember this is my daily driver too. around 2 1/2 in exhaust
i got a friend that has a 2.2 4 cylinder in a sunfire and he is running the 1/4 mile in about low 12s he also has a supercharger and nos i dont want nos kill myself

You're not going to kill yourself with NOS, be smart about it. Don't hit the button every chance you get and don't take sharp turns with it either.
OK, NOS is a no-no until you get a lil better acquanited with your car and what you can do with it and to it.
You are talking about a daily driver. 1st off your engine probably won't turn a 4.10 or 4.56 and if it did by the time that you reached hiway speeds you would be stopping to fill up with more go-go juice.
I am not sure what "stock gears" are in your rear end, but you might want to look at the RPO and check it out. If the rears are less than 3.42's Look in your local boneyard for one or maybe even a 3.70. That will give you all the boost you will need and still be able to cruise down the hiway without having to sound deaden your car extensively.
Look at your plugs and wires. Are they the cheapest things that you could find, or are they from someone like Excel or MSD. Do you have your wires riding on the engine or are they up so they don't "ground out" before they can do their job....When Looking at wire go for the 8.8mm.
Well that is a few more thoughts for you.
