heater/engine temp problem

My engine temp and heat has been acting wierd lately. I noticed that when i turn on my heater the heat isn't really hot...infact its barely warm. My temp has been at 210 when I did this too so I know its not a cold engine. Also today I was noticing that my car was at 210 while driving then when i pulled into my driveway it went down to 180 within 4 seconds. Is it supposed to do that and sometimes the car will even run hotter then 210 (and this is on the highway)? Any ideas of what my problem could be....is any of this normal?

No, not normal.

Check the coolant level/overflow bottle (wait until car is cool...)

I just decided to go ahead and flush the system yesterday. I ran 3 gallons of water through her before I added the 50/50 mix of dexcool and water. The engine temp stays at about 180 now all the time and the heat works perfectly.
