headlights grinding

Unhappy headlights grinding

I have a 99 firebird v6 and everytime u put the lights down they make this grinding noise as if there trying to go down further but cant....any suggestions to the problem....and how hard is it to fix?

Search next time, the plastic gear inside the motor has failed. Do a search for 'headlight fix' and you will see the many different ways to fix it.

btw, this isn't engine related.

I know this is ancient. But if you haven't found the answer yet, it is because you have bad headlight gears, and they need replaced. Check out http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headl...htm#MetalGuide

You can get new brass gears from Brent Franker there which cost a lot less than getting new ones that will probably go bad again sometime. Also included on the website is a good "how to" installation guide.
