few questions
ok before this thread gets deleted i DID search but with a 56K modem and on a S-L-O-W computer it makes things very difficult
so please bare with me.
First off i have a 1998 3.8L and i am looking at getting exhaust and wanted to know if z28 exhaust can be made to fit the v6? and if so what is needed to make it work? also does it sound just as good as a v6 specific exhaust?
OR
would i be better off just buying a muffler and having an exhaust shop custom fab me a catback system.
which would be cheaper and provide better sound?

Re: few questions
A Z28 catback will fit. I do not know why, but some of them require hangers to be changed. I have a Z28 catback, and the hangers are identical to the 96 V6 Camaro. You will also need a connector at the catalytic converter to go from 2.25" to the Z28 2.75". This should give a decent sound, with out much rasp.
Price is relative. If you keep your eyes open you can get a Z28 takeoff for almost nothing. That makes it much cheaper than an aftermarket catback. I would stay away from having a shop make your I-pipe, as most places cannot mandrel bend, and that basically defeats the purpose of getting aftermarket parts.
As for sound, that is all your opinion. There are many, many exhaust options out there. You need to decide what you think sounds the best, as no one here can dictate that for you.
