Cool Exhaust....

Got a 97 V6...Silver coupe and I wanted to know what type of exhaust options Ive got to go with. My friend has a 1997 z28 exhaust that im considering buying. Would this be a good idea? Would there be any problems....? and hello to everybody on the board...

The z28 exhaust might work, but it isn't gonna be loud. If you want sound and appearence get yourself a flowmaster muffler and some tips. I would imagine that the exhaust off a z28(assuming it is stock mufler) would be restrictive and wouldn't help your power out anyway.

Thumbs up

If you get his I-pipe, you will see a performance gain since their pipes are 2.75 (sometimes they reduce down to 2.5 though so look out) while a stock V6 exhaust is 2.25".

I've heard a few take-off exhausts and they sound pretty decent, not like the Z they were taken off from but decent at the least. I'm sure he'd sell it to you pretty cheap, so you might look into getting it and trying it out.

I'm not a big fan of a Flowmaster exhaust on the 3.8 but to each his own. I'd highly recommend hearing exhausts up close and in person before making any decisions though.

Thanks for your replies guys Ive found forums to be really helpful. The exhaust is actually an 1999 Z28 exhaust...I guess Im going to put it in the car anyways to see how it sounds. Im not looking for a deep roar but something subtle that will also look better than a muffler with a tiny little pipe coming out of it. His is the muffler and the dual pipes and tips. Would that be a problem to hook up on mine???

Everyone will give you different opinions on the muffler situation. You just have to listen to different types and see which one you prefer. Its all about personal preferrence.

I have a w/S6 exhaust on my car and its not borla loud but its louder thatn a stock Z-28. Especially when you take your foot off the gas. The poping is out of control, i love it.

Cool

Not hard to install at all.All you need is a 3" to 2.5" reducer.Good luck.
Kevin

PS
If you ever decide you don't like the sound, just keep the I-pipe and swap out the muffler.
