Don't know crap about suspension...help please!!

Hey I have a buddy of mine who has done work on several cars using his suspension packages he designs. Well anyways he offered to put a suspension package on mine for free, so he can use for a donor car to show off to distributors. Anyways what I wanna know is if this is a good idea. He basically makes his own parts so I am just wondering if this will damage my car in any way or if it's a good idea at all.

what components does he make? cause not many people can make a shock/strut, or a spring... i could see making STB's subframes, LCAs , pan hard rods, and A arms... but not shocks or springs

i would have no problem with home made parts as long as i knew they were strong enough

I believe it's the subframes, sway bars, and some other one, not sure. What I wanna know is can it harm the car in any way. As the post says I don't know crap about suspension parts.

STBs are a joke, but if you can get a good deal on one, it makes a good appearance mod. If you can only get one free I'd go with the SFCs.

i'd say go for it , if a subframe were to break then the car would be able to still get where its going, same for a sway bar, so even if they did fail then you would still be able to get where you are going

you can drive without those on? Will the ride just be really bad without them? Subframes don't come stock anyways on our cars right?

Look, I don't know your buddy at all and I don't want to imply anything at all about him.

All I know is that I see a lot of questionable stuff on the Net. Like:

"if a subframe were to break then the car would be able to still get where its going, same for a sway bar"

If the front sway broke you'd better get where you're going while driving like a "little old lady". The handling will be very evil.

So, is it possible to mod your suspension and screw up the handling? Sure, I've seen some bad recommendations for suspension mods on the Net, particularly with sway bars. Would your buddy do that? How could anyone here possibly know?

Heh...you should be asking him these questions since he's putting the stuff on. After all, he should be a suspension expert.
