Dead Camaro
Dead Camaro
I was working two nights ago delivering pizza when my car died all of the sudden. I got back to the store, got a run and when I went to start the car it was dead. I can get the radio to come on so I figure it isn't a battery problem. There is absolutely no sign from the engine that the car is trying to start though when i turn the key. Everyone I've talked to is guessing that it is the starter, although I don't think anyone I've talked to really knows anything about cars. Does that sound right and how much would you expect the dealer will charge to fix it? It pretty much has to go to the dealer because I don't really have any other place I take it to and we just need the easiest option since we are down to one vehicle for both my parents and now myself until mine gets fixed.
Re: Dead Camaro
sorry to hear about your car. The best thing to do is yes taking
it to the dealer. maybe they can run codes some how and let you
know what's going on with your car. I took mine in the other day
because the service eng light came on, they run codes told me what
was wrong and I fix it my self. (a.i.r. check val) It would of cost me
$150 at the dealer for a 10 min job.
GOOD LUCK !!!

Re: Dead Camaro
did you try turning on the headlights for 30 seconds or so? if they went dim, id look at bad battery or connections.
in my experience, a bad starter will show it age with hot starts (heat soak) - but they make some sort of noise. if no juice is getting to the starter though, it is an starting interlock problem.
i know you towed it, but i still thought id chime in, so if something the dealer says sounds familiar, you've heard it before.
oh yeah, a bad neutral safety switch (auto) or clutch safety switch (stick) can cause a car to not crank.
good luck.
