car won't start unknown problem help please!

The car won't start. Dead. Battery is fine. Replaced that.
Stick the key in the ignition nothing happens, I get the door chime sound, move to the 2nd turn part nothing no radio no power to the cluster, but I have power to seats and head lights. No window power door locks nothing. Checked all the known fuses I can see from the panel and engine bay, and nothing is blown.

Any known problems for these cars like this one??

thanks,. travis

sounds to me like your ignition switch went bad. It happens. I was having something similar. I still had power for all the accesories but I wasn't getting enought voltage to the start sylinoide to kick the starter on. And even after I replaced it its still not starting. But from what you are discribing it sounds excatly like an ingition switch. Faily easy to replace just drop the coloum and you should see it bolted on the top about mid way to the fire wall. The hardest part is removing the shift cable.

That's what it looks like to be, I took the bottom cloumn peice off and I was seeing this rod from the tumblar to this device in the back of the steering cloumn and I was thinking this possibly went out, as I just saw my interior lights are working and what not just didn't seem like it cause of the day light. (blind). Looks like all it is two bolts and the cloumn drops and the piece is just resting up top of the cloumn. Thanks for the quick reply guys. I will be bing a new switch asap and see what happens! \

if you keep following the colum down to the fire wall you will see a plate that is bolted to the fire wall that the colum goes through. If you unbolt the three bolts that hold it on it will give you just a lil bit more play in the colum to move it around and make changing the switch a lil bit easier. Just be careful when you start unpluging wires there is one that is hooked up to the air bag. So if your not sure what you are unpluging disconnect the battery just to be on the safe side.
