car starts....sometimes

I just started having this problem, where my Camaro doesn't want to start. I have full power to everything, radio, lights, horn, blah blah blah. But when I go to crank, I hear nothing, except the fuel pump engaging. Sometimes I can play with the battery connection while someone is trying to start it until I can hear the starting trying to grab, but I haven't even gotten that. I have checked all the connections and everything is connected like it should be.......I get frustrated and leave the car sitting for a few hours, come back and the car starts right up. I am extremely baffled, please help me figure this out.

Sometimes the side-post connections on GM batteries go bad. Make sure your cables are connected connected tightly, and try a different battery. A continuity tester will often not show the problem, since there's enough connection for that little trickle of current, but not enough to turn a starter.

The key cylinder is connected to the ignition switch by a rod... sounds like what he is describing.

I think the recent post was from someone who did a search, and for some reason needed a part name. I don't think he was trying to help the OP.
