Like he said how is the fuel pump?
It is not getting enough fuel.
The filter could be cloged. Some injecters could be cloged. Psi reg could be mesed up or stuck.
A sencor could be mesed up not letting in enough fuel.

i had the same problem....

the problem was the cat being clogged!

i changed my fuel filter, plugs, wires, everything! then i put a new exhaust system on and problem solved!!

just go to summit racing and buy a $60 cat converter and you problem should be solved!!!

I had a similar problem it turned out a piece of plastic was stuck in my throttle body, don't ask. But its worth it to take your airbox off and check to make sure the throttle body is clear.

My first guess would be a clogged CC...
but my worst case guess would be a busted internal sprag gear in the tranny...

Will it shift through all the gears?
How many RPM is he turning at 45MPH?
Is there a funny smell?
Does the exhaust sound any different?

I just put the ex old ladys new 3.8 in her 96, My first words after turning it over to her " Get one more ticket, or one more oops, and ill put a throttle stop and youll be doing 35 everywhere, including the freeway"

She smiled and said she was glad I cared, but new I would do it.

Reason it got a new motor was from one of her oops's, and then decided to keep right on driving for a week or 2 with a busted radiater and no water, her " The temp needle thing never went up, its not my fault"

Friggin woman!!!!
